Thank you for discussing the proper way of photographing ballistic evidence. I couldn’t stop laughing when I had read their claims on pages 123 and 124.
Just wish the ballistic evidence at the school got the same respect. The Bushmaster may have ended up in a box, but photographing it was a different story. If you look closely, that table they are all on isn’t 100% covered and there’s obvious blood spatter on it. Guess contamination wasn’t a concern??….

I have no experience in law enforcement, but I’m not sure why contamination would be a concern in this case. I don’t think paper over dried blood from a known source shouldn’t be much of an issue. Of course this is just based on my limited understanding of crime scenes, etc.

It’d be a problem if there was another suspect or just trying to confirm with fingerprints/DNA that Adam was the one that touched and fired the weapon(s). It is totally illogical to believe that just a few hours into the investigation they already knew that they had their one and only guy.

I’m sorry, but what is your experience in law enforcement? Forensic science?

The photos you’re referring to were taken sometime after 5:30PM on the 14th (according 00257965.pdf), so the earliest would’ve been sometime around eight hours after the shooting stopped. They knew there was only one gunman and they knew who he was at this point. This is discussed plenty in the final report. Don’t make me search through it again.
